Workers in offices, retail stores, restaurants, factories, and agriculture have all been shown to be at increased risk for contracting Covid-19. However, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) has only been accepting Worker’s Compensation claims from healthcare workers and first-responders–even though it is known that many other industries are COVID hotspots.
Currently, L&I is preventing these other workers from obtaining Worker’s Compensation benefits, and has even been telling healthcare providers to discourage these workers from filing claims.
Lehmbecker Law firm has been fighting for workers for 34 years. We believe that seriously ill workers who were exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace should be entitled to worker’s compensation benefits, including health care and time loss benefits.
If you or someone you know has contracted COVID-19 from a work exposure you should absolutely file a claim for benefits, and if your claim is denied, we want to hear from you.
