We are pleased to announce that our workers’ compensation legal assistant, Cassandra, has joined our workers’ compensation litigation team as of March 1, 2021. Cassandra joined Lehmbecker Law after graduating from college in 2019 and quickly excelled at helping our injured clients with their cases.
At Lehmbecker Law every client has a team of legal professionals working on their cases. Cassandra assisted our case managers and attorneys by being a daily point of contact for our clients as well as helping move each case forward as directed by the case managers and attorneys.
When our litigation secretary position became available, Cassandra expressed her interest in learning about more complex tasks associated with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries and the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and training to become the litigation attorney’s chief assistant.
Based on her excellent work as a legal assistant, our Managing Attorney, Larry Lehmbecker, and our Litigation Attorney, Thomas Moore, were excited to offer her the legal secretary position. This move will support Cassandra’s desire to grow professionally within the Workers’ Compensation legal field, while continuing to help injured workers in Washington State.
About 10% of our workers’ compensation cases at any one time need extra attention from our litigation team due to benefit denials or claim closure orders issued by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
When L&I denies benefits to injured workers unfairly, clients are often subject to severe financial stress, and also are unable to obtain medical treatment that they need. Lehmbecker Law’s job is to protest and appeal the unfair decisions, and fight to obtain the benefits our clients deserve. When an appeal is needed, the case goes before the Board of Industrial Appeals, where hearings are held and a judge will makes a decision about the client’s benefits. It is during this process that Cassandra will be helping Tom fight for our clients.
Before and after Appeals, cases are managed by our pre-litigation team, and the focus is keeping the case on track and avoiding disputes that might cause benefits to be denied in the first place. Cassandra did a great job helping with pre-litigation issues, and we know she is going to be a great Litigation Secretary as well.
