$62,500 Lawsuit Victory: Seeking Justice After a Pit Bull Attack
Case Description
Taking a walk through your own neighborhood should be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. But in this case, our client suffered a terrifying attack when a neighbor’s pit bull burst through a gate out of its yard and attacked her. The dog leapt up at our client and latched onto her thigh, crushing down with its powerful jaws, causing several puncture wounds. The dog then fled, leaving our client lying on the ground in tears and severe pain. EMS rushed to the scene and treated her wounds.
Our client did not require extensive medical treatment. However, she was left with scarring on her leg. Victims of dog bite attacks often suffer profound psychological effects, including phobias of dogs, fear of being in open spaces where they might be attacked, and symptoms associated with PTSD, like obsessive thoughts, flashbacks, and nightmares. Our client did suffer many of these symptoms, and so had to undergo multiple mental health therapy sessions. Unfortunately, the mental health counseling had only limited success. Our client remains fearful of large dogs and has been unable to resume walking in her neighborhood for fear of being attacked again. Despite the physical medical treatment being minimal, we demanded that the insurance company pay substantial compensation.
Suffering a bodily dog bite attack and wounds and losing faith in your own personal safety are traumas that have lasting effects and deserve significant compensation.
Final Settlement
Our lead attorney, Larry Lehmbecker, personally negotiated with the insurance company and secured a settlement of $62,500 for our client.
