LEHMBECKER LAW PARTICIPATES IN STATE WORKERS’ COMP MEETING WITH THE LATINO CIVIC ALLIANCE

The Latino workforce has several significant characteristics that impact their receipt of workers’ compensation benefits in Washington State. It is the duty of the Department of Labor and Industries (LNI) to affirmatively take action to address disparate treatment and outcomes among Latino workers.

With the head of the Dept. of L&I, Joel Sacks

Our employees take any opportunity they can to bring the concerns of the Latino injured workers to our state leaders.

Yesterday, Lehmbecker Law Firm’s Sandra Rodarte and Elizabeth LePley, joined Latino Civic Alliance (LCA) and Latino advocates to voice concerns to the Department of Labor and Industries regarding the disparate treatment our Latino injured workers receive.

With the head of the Dept. of L&I, Joel Sacks

They met with Joel Sacks and his team in Olympia. The meeting was especially productive with both sides committing to working together to improve the workers’ compensation system for our Latino workers. We are encouraged that we are working toward changes that we feel are necessary and beneficial for our clients.

Immediately after the meeting with LNI, Latino community leaders met with Governor Inslee. The meeting encompassed issues relating to housing, violence, and employment of the Latino community. Sandra is a board member of LCA advocating for the Latino community.

“I beamed with pride observing Sandra in the Governor’s conference room. I could not be more proud of her dedication and advocating that she does for our Latino community. We are beyond lucky to have her on our team at Lehmbecker.” Elizabeth said.

We will continue to fight for our injured workers and are looking forward to future conversation with the Department of Labor and Industries.
